Since 1973 I’ve been creating on-the-spot illustrated journals of our travels and special occasions for my own amusement. In 1999 I was encouraged to take a few of those journals to New York and meet with Algonquin Books. The rest is literary history. I was asked to create a series of travel books that would have the same personal charm as my journals, and so began my new career as an author/illustrator.
